Keurig, Incorporated, a leader in gourmet single cup brewing,
announced today the introduction of two new home brewers
- the Elite and Special Edition. The new Elite and Special
Edition - which compliment the existing Ultra -- add to Keurig's
line of at-home brewers providing a variety of price points
and features to attract more gourmet coffee lovers to the
Keurig single cup coffee maker revolution.
Single cup coffee brewing is the fastest growing segment
of the coffee industry because of the speed and convenience
in making a cup of coffee/tea one cup at a time. Keurig is
the premium leader of the segment-delivering not only speed/convenience-but
also gourmet taste due to proprietary brewing technology
and partnerships with popular coffee/tea brands.
The Keurig
Ultra, Elite and Special Edition brewers make a single cup
of gourmet coffee in less than 60 seconds. The brewers use
Keurig's patented K-Cup(R) portion packs that eliminate the
hassle of grinding beans, measuring coffee, handling filters,
or any messy clean up. Additionally, Keurig meets the diverse
taste of coffee and tea drinkers with a selection of more
than 100 different varieties of gourmet coffee packed fresh
in K-Cups.
"We are proud that Keurig is the first single
cup coffee brewing system to offer consumers a Good/Better/Best
product line-up," said Nick Lazaris, CEO of Keurig. "We
listened to our customers to develop three brewers that offer
the most popular features at price points everyone can love!"
The
new Elite brewer (SRP $129.95) features an 8 oz. brew size,
and a removable dishwasher-safe 48-ounce water reservoir.
The new Special Edition (SRP $229.95) is the ultimate Keurig
home brewer featuring a blue back-lit LCD panel, choice of
6, 8, or 10 ounce brew sizes, an attractive illuminated water
reservoir with blue lighting, and water temperature control.
Chrome accents are also included in the brewer design for
a sleek look and feel. The new brewers build on the success
of Keurig's Ultra model (SRP $169.95) - which was an immediate
success at premium retailers when introduced during the Holiday,
2004 season.
The Keurig Ultra, Elite, and Special Edition
brewers are currently available at major department and specialty
stores and on-line at http://www.keurig.com.
For consumers looking to purchase a brewer in a retail outlet,
Keurig's partners include: Bloomingdale's, Williams-Sonoma,
Macy's, Linens n' Things, Filene's, Robinson May, Marshall
Fields, Amazon.com, Bed Bath & Beyond and many others.
The Keurig Gourmet Single Cup Home Brewing System Keurig
brewing combines sophisticated technology with a selection
of gourmet coffees and teas that is unmatched by other single
cup systems. Keurig offers a menu of over 100 premium coffees
and teas from seven of the finest premium brands including:
Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Diedrich, Gloria Jean's,
Timothy's World Coffee, Van Houtte, Celestial Seasoning,
and Bigelow. All coffee contains 100% Arabica Gourmet coffee
beans, freshly roasted and sealed for ultimate freshness
in Keurig's patented K-Cup(R) portion packs. A filter inside
the K-Cup ensures that water will extract the optimal coffee
or tea flavor during brewing, and because brewing takes place
inside this "mini-brewer", there is no residue left inside
to taint the next brew. At the end of the brew cycle a burst
of air forces out the K-Cup's last drops ensuring no dripping
or mess when removed. K-Cups are sold at retail in a variety
of 18-count portion packs.
